WAC Services

The WAC is committed to helping OSU faculty and staff implement the OSU Minimum Web Accessibility (MWAS) standards in their program, department, college, course, and professional web sites hosted on OSU servers. We offer the following services:

  1. Individual or small group consultations: Setup an appointment with the WAC and we will come to you or you can come to our offices. We'll walk you through your site and point out the accessibility and usability issues we find, plus offer you ideas on how to repair or update your site. Hear your site being read by a screen reader and see your site in a variety of browsers and user configurations.
  2. Consultation on-demand: Have a page you want to check with a screen reader? Not sure if your Javascript solution violates the standards? Send your URL and inquiry to the WAC. We try to respond within 2 business days.
  3. WAC Workshops: Our on-going series of workshops (roughly 2 per month) are designed to help you get up-to-speed on the accessible design topics that matter to you and your site. Topics have included: Standards overview, Flash, PDF, Validators, Dreamweaver, and CSS. For updated information on current workshops, visit our Workshops page.
  4. Tutorials and Guides: The WAC is continuing to develop our library of available resources, including custom tutorials created by the WAC staff for the OSU community. For a complete list of available online resources, visit the WAC Tutorials page.
  5. Web Site Analysis: Need help identifying the potential problems in your site? Request a site review (see below).

Request any of our services by contacting the WAC: email us or call (614) 292-1760.

WAC Web Site Analysis.

The OSU Web Accessibility Center (WAC) analyzes web pages for their accessibility to people with disabilities. The WAC offers this as a free service to OSU faculty and staff in order to further its mission to expand opportunities for people with disabilities through the innovative uses of computer technology. The WAC's goal is to ensure that all distance education and online courses at OSU are fully accessible to persons with disabilities.

To have your web site analyzed, fill-out a Review Request online. The WAC will report any accessibility and/or browser compatibility errors found on the page. The WAC bases it's analysis of accessibility on the OSU Minimum Web Accessibility Standards,. You may additionally request validation for Section 508, and/or the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Accessibility Initiative's (WAI) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 1.0). The WAC also analyzes web pages for compatibility with various browsers and asssitive technology.
