Designing Accessible Web Pages

Scripts

Be sure that any plug-ins, scripts, etc. are widely supported. If a user is using a slow connection to the Internet, they are unlikely to download a plug-in to see your site. Be sure to provide the same information via alternative methods to ensure usability of your site.

For example, if your site is currently heavy into Macromedia Shockwave animations, be sure to provide an HTML version of the same information via a page you'd create with FrontPage, and allow users to choose which page to see. Also be aware that scrolling JAVA applets may be skipped by screen readers, so be sure to present that info elsewhere on your page in static HTML.
