Designing Accessible Web Pages

CAST (Center for Applied Special Technology) is a great site for beginners because it's easy and simple to read. It has good design tips as well as information about many web authoring concepts. While written for educators, it is useful to everyone. CAST offers a wonderful web page checking system called Bobby. Let's try this page in Bobby.

Go to Bobby and enter the URL for this page (you can do this quickly by clicking on/highlighting the URL, go to Edit, Copy, then go to Bobby, click in the URL box, then click Edit, Paste). Press SUBMIT. When the review is completed you will see the analysis of this page. The report will tell you if the page is approved or not approve, then it will tell you why.

Also, even though you may not program in HTML, you can check the validity of the syntax of the HTML that FrontPage produces using the W3C's HTML 4.0 Validator. This can provide useful feedback for even the novice web developer on ways to make their site work better for both Internet Explorer and Netscape users.
